“Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”
– Steve Jobs
Can you walk through fog?
One morning recently, it was super-foggy, and I was reminded of one of my favourite quotes (by EL Doctorow). He said, “Writing is like driving at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.”
This is a beautiful metaphor for stepping into the unknown, and into the adventure of your life. It’s how I’ve built my businesses and how I wrote my #1 bestselling book CLARITY: Clear Mind, Better Performance, Bigger Results.
So many people tell me, “I’d do it if I knew it was going to work / knew how/ knew I wouldn’t fail / knew I wouldn’t be criticised / knew exactly what to do”, but that’s not the deal. While you can use boilerplate models and guaranteed step-by-step plans for things that have been done before, they’re largely useless when it comes to doing something brand new; something unique and authentically you; something that’s never been done before. E.g. Your life.
You are unique; a one-off in all of space and time. So here’s my question:
What would you do next if you were willing to step into the fog of the unknown?
Have a wonderful day!
To your increasing clarity
Big love
Jamie
