It’s enthusiasm time again. Let me know what you think via twitter at @JamieSmartCom, on my Facebook page, or on my blog below.
1. A quote I’m resonating with this week
In the theme of ‘quotes that make me appropriately uncomfortable’ that started with Rumi’s contribution last week, here’s a corker from C.S. Lewis:
“If you look for truth, you may find comfort in the end; if you look for comfort you will not get either comfort or truth only soft soap and wishful thinking to begin, and in the end, despair.”
2. A question I loved answering (re: why clients hire you as a coach or therapist)
In this week’s episode of The Thriving Coaches Podcast, you’re going to hear me answer a question from a coach called Max, who asked what is it that has people hire you as a coach? Max had always been told that you need to “blow a client’s mind” during your enrolment conversation, and he’d noticed that I seemed to be taking a completely different approach (this was during one of my coach training programmes where I’d just been demonstrating an enrolment session with a client called Sarah).
You can listen to Max’s question and my in-depth, 10-minute answer here
If you’d prefer to watch the video, you can find that here
3. This week’s glimpse of the future
This week’s glimpse is actually a quote about the future from the Hungarian-born physicist and inventor. Gabor literally invented holography in 1949, an endeavour that earned him the Nobel Prize. What a dude! Here’s what he says about the future:
“The future cannot be predicted, but futures can be invented. It was man’s ability to invent which has made human society what it is.”
4. An interview which really touches me (what makes the biggest difference?)
I had a conversation this week with a young woman who’s passionate about making a difference in the lives of others. As we talked, she told me about a massive change that was sparked in her life. She said that a fresh new thought came to her, out of the blue, and that her whole life changed.
She thought about things differently…
She started behaving in ways that nourished her…
She made healthier choices…
And her life started transforming.
I’d never spoken with her before, but as she asked what I do, I explained that the best way I can describe it is that I help make it easy for people to have those kinds of fresh, new thought; an update in your perceptual reality.
I call it “realisation” or “insight”.
Recently, we did an interview with someone who’s doing this kind of work with their own clients, Farah Hussain.
Farah trained as a psychotherapist, but has been transitioning to a principles-based approach and seeing extraordinary results with her clients.
(Farah’s required to track and measure her clients’ subjective report of their results, and the impact she’s having is unlike anything she’s seen before; either for herself or for the group of therapists who she supervises)
Would you like to hear her take on what accounts for these changes?
If you’d like to have a look at Farah’s 7-minute interview and get it straight from the source, you’ll find it (along with some other interviews with Clarity Coaches) here:

5. This week’s 3 minute miracle
It’s over 20 years since Moloko released their incredible album, Do You Like My Tight Sweater. Singer Roisin Murphy is still going strong, and every time I hear something from her, it takes me back. Here’s their track, Fun For Me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EOXlJfJ-OgA
That’s it for this week!
