As you may recall, in October I wrote a post headlined ‘[CONFESSION] A guilty secret +the biggest experiment I’ve done in a decade’. There was a huge response to it – thank you so much to everyone who commented and reached out to me – it means a lot to me.
It’s been an interesting time since, so I thought I’d give you an update. About 10 days into the experiment, I hit a bump in the road.
When I woke up in the morning, I wrote in my journal for a while about some of the stuff I’d been experiencing.
I also wrote about some patterns I’ve seen going back through my working life, probably for as long as 30 years or more.
Once I’d finished journalling, I got on with the things on my to-do list, but it was hard work…
Hard work because the stuff I was doing was difficult?
No.
Hard work because I was filled with annoyance and frustration.
And it seemed like it was coming from the stuff I was working on…
…presentation slides that needed to be finished.
…posts and emails that needed to be polished.
…bits of planning that needed to be figured out.
It was hard going, but here’s the thing…
While it genuinely seemed that my feelings of frustration and irritation had a lot to do with the stuff I was working on, there’s one thing I know for sure…
You’re always living in the experience of the principle of Thought taking form in the moment.
While it can genuinely seem like our feelings are letting us know about the past, the future, other people, the work we’re doing, what we’re like as a person, etc etc etc…
The fact of the matter is that we’re always living in a Thought-generated perceptual reality, and we’re always experiencing this real-time moment…
…this hot second, being created from deep within consciousness and exploding into awareness…
So I cracked on.
And it was hard going.
But by the time I got to the end of the day, I was feeling like myself again.
So I did a masterclass I had planned…
Then I went and saw my beloved and her children…
And I took the dog for a walk…
And I got to bed early…
And when I woke up the next day, I felt really good
See, in my ‘guilty secret’ post, I said I was embarking on the biggest experiment I’ve done in over a decade. That I’m going to find out what happens when I introduce a zero-tolerance policy for stress, pressure and urgency.
And the reason that’s such a big experiment is because I don’t know what’s going to happen.
And things have happened since I wrote that post that I didn’t know were going to be happening. For instance…
I met with a group of Clarity Coaches and other colleagues to discuss the future of the fields of coaching and subtractive psychology, and I was left with an incredible sense of possibility…
I hired a coach to work with me, and I’m really excited about our work together…
I ran the Thriving Coaches Blueprint launch with a fraction of the stress & pressure that’s historically been associated with launches…
And I still don’t know what’s going to happen…
But I’m sitting here, writing this message in a beautiful feeling.
And I’m grateful to be on this journey with all of you.
This Week’s Facebook Live:
How to Dissolve the Obstacles that Stop Clients Buying
from You or Your Company
Have you ever wondered how to handle objections from potential clients?Do you hear the same thing again and again when you propose your offer?
- “I can’t afford it”
- “Let me think about it and get back to you”
- “I just don’t have the time for it right now”
While I recorded this Facebook Live for coaches who want to grow their businesses, the principles I’m pointing to apply in any influence context.
Finally, I’m getting together with a group of coaches on Zoom this Monday to answer questions about our November Thriving Coaches Blueprint programme.
