I’ve got 5 tantalising tidbits for you today. Whether you “hurrah” them or hate them, please let me know what you think via twitter at @jamiesmartcom or in the comment section. At the end, I’ll tell you how you can get one of your #enthusiasms featured in a future article.
1) A quote I love
Great quotes can be a trigger for insight, inspiration and new perspectives, so I’ve decided to share one of my favourites with you each week. I found this week’s quote in the excellent book The 50th Law by 50 Cent and Robert Greene (one of the few books I own in 3 formats; hardback, kindle and audiobook).
“The greatest fear people have is that of being themselves. They want to be 50 Cent or someone else. They do what everyone else does even if it doesn’t fit where and who they are. But you get nowhere that way; your energy is weak and no one pays attention to you. You’re running away from the one thing that you own – what makes you different.” – 50 Cent
2) An activity I adore
For many years, I went for a walk in the woods most days. Many of my most liberating insights arrived while I was strolling through Burbage Woods at 6am. My daughters and I were there the other day, and it’s still beautifully peaceful.
3) A TV Series I devoured
I loved the UK version of the enthralling tale of political intrigue, House of Cards, when it first screened back in the 1990s, but the Netflix re-make takes it to a whole new level. Kevin Spacey is mesmerising as the antihero Francis Underwood. If you're going to watch it, make sure you've got nothing much else planned for the next couple of weeks.
4) A theory I’m pumped about
In Robert Lanza’s excellent book Biocentrism he proposes that we carry space and time around with us like a tortoise carries its shell. This is very in-line with what I’m pointing to in my books CLARITY: Clear Mind, Better Performance, Bigger Results and The Little Book of Clarity, with the added bonus that Lanza is an award-winning scientist who was listed as one of Time magazine’s "100 Most Influential People in the World" in 2014. You can watch Lanza talking about his theory of biocentrism here.
5) A Facebook post I’m excited about
At the end of last year, I dreamed up a secret enterprise called “Project Glasswing”, and created the first case-study group. The beta-tests went extremely well, and many of the people who took part in it (mostly coaches, therapists, consultants and other change-workers) started reporting extraordinary results (though some didn’t, of course). We ran it again in June, with similar results, and are currently filling the next intake, so I put up a post about it last week. The lovely people from the case-study group have started posting about the results and impact it’s had, and it’s truly heart-warming. You can read their comments and find out about the difference it’s making here on Facebook.
By the way, following the success of the beta-tests, I’m looking for a small group of very specific people for my final 'Project Glasswing' programme of 2015, launching in a few weeks’ time. Here’s what I’m looking for:
– You are a coach, therapist or change-worker (e.g. Sports coach, psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, business coach, homeopath, bodyworker etc)
– You have at least one year’s experience of working with clients (either paid, pro-bono or both)
– You probably charge by the hour, but want to use a “coaching package” model to increase your income & make it more consistent
– You have space in your practice to work with at least one longer term contract client, starting in November
– You’re an enthusiastic, friendly people-person
– You have a coachable spirit, and are willing to step out of your comfort zone if necessary, and
– You can keep a secret
If that’s you, then just email me at info@jamiesmart.com, and let me know where you’re located and a little about yourself (if you don’t know what to tell me about, look at the list above for inspiration). Make the subject line “Project Glasswing TTE”. I’ll be choosing people in the next couple of weeks. Talk to you soon! J
And we’re done. If you have questions, suggestions or want to let me know what you’re enthusiastic about, just tweet one of yours and put my twitter name @jamiesmartcom and the #Enthusiasms hashtag in there so I can find it. If I’m enthusiastic about something you’re enthusiastic about, it might just get featured in a future TTE.
Big love
Jamie
