I’ve got some more yummies for you this week. Whether they’re wow! or not so much, please let me know what you think via twitter at @jamiesmartcom, on my Facebook page here, or in the comments section. At the end, I’ll tell you how you can get one of your #enthusiasms featured in a future edition.
1. One of my favourite quotes ever
This quote comes from an old, “out of print” Sydney Banks recording called Beyond Psychology. If you'd like to know more about why I love it so much, you can read my article "The Unmissable Goal" here.
"And in this game of life, we all search for ourselves. When I say selves, I mean ‘inner selves’, the thing that created the life in the first place. Now consciously, most of us are not aware of this. But if you’re searching for happiness; if you’re searching for tranquility; if you’re searching just to have a nice, peaceful, loving, understanding life… in actual fact, your searching for your inner self.”
2. Something that's changing the world
When Peter Diamandis announced the $10 million XPrize, he drove hundreds of millions of dollars of investment and launched the multi-billion dollar private space industry. The XPrize foundation is focused on using incentive competitions to solve humanity's biggest problems. You can read about some of the current Prize competitions, including the Global Learning XPrize and the Qualcomm Tricorder XPrize, here.
3. A truly remarkable podcast
The Mystery Show from Gimlet Media is simply brilliant. Starlee Kine solves seemingly impossible mysteries, surprising and delighting us in the process. My favourite mystery is the heart-melting Belt Buckle which you can listen to here.
4. Mastery in action
Lars Andersen’s video, Lars Andersen: A New Level of Archery is so insanely good that it looks like it’s faked at first. But it isn’t. This guy is better than CGI!
5. A building I love
The Oxo Tower (once the home of the Oxo bullion cube company) has a wonderful restaurant, but the best thing about it is the view across the Thames after dark. London by night. Gorgeous…
That’s it for this week. If you have questions, suggestions or want to let me know what you’re enthusiastic about, just tweet one of yours and put my twitter name @jamiesmartcom and the #Enthusiasms hashtag in there so I can find it. If I’m enthusiastic about something you’re enthusiastic about, it might just get featured in a future TTE.
Big love
Jamie
