It’s that time again. As usual, please let me know what you think via twitter at @jamiesmartcom, on my Facebook page here, or in the comment section. At the end, I’ll tell you how you can get one of your #enthusiasms featured in a future edition.
1. A quote I love
A friend recently said he’d been told he could be the next Einstein – but then he went and got his hair cut 😉 Albert Einstein may well be one of the most misquoted people on the internet, but this one’s legit. It speaks to something I passionately believe in…
“A new type of thinking is essential if mankind is to survive and move toward higher levels.”
2. A very cool and interesting podcast I really enjoy
If you enjoyed last week’s 3-minute miracle, The Commander Thinks Aloud, you’re going to love this episode of Song Exploder. In this podcast, musicians take their songs apart and tell Hrishikesh Hirway the story about how the song came into being. Brilliant idea! This one is fascinating and beautiful.
3. A game that’s brilliantly bad and wrong
No description can do justice to Cards Against Humanity. It’s for adults only, and is hilarious with a capital “F”. Enjoy!
4. Another of my favourite physicists
Richard Feynman was one of the great thinkers of the 20th century. Not only that, but he radiates a sense of fun, enjoyment and fascination. Check him out talking about things that jiggle.
5. This week’s 3-minute miracle
When I was just a baby of 20, I emigrated from Canada, leaving “the land that pop forgot”, where radio stations played full sides of Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd albums. I arrived in England, a land where everyone in the country listened to the same handful of radio stations, and everyone seemed to be fluent in the 3-minute format. I joined a band, and one of the first covers we played was Another Girl Another Planet by The Only Ones… Near-punk magic.
That’s it for this week. If you have questions, suggestions or want to let me know what you’re enthusiastic about, just tweet one of yours and put my twitter name @jamiesmartcom and the #Enthusiasms hashtag in there so I can find it. If I’m enthusiastic about something you’re enthusiastic about, it might just get featured in a future TTE.
Big love
Jamie
