It’s Thursday, and here are some more juicy morsels for you. Please let me know what you think via twitter at @jamiesmartcom, on my Facebook page here, or in the comment section. At the end, I’ll tell you how you can get one of your #enthusiasms featured in a future edition of The Thursday Enthusiasms (TTE).
1. A quotation I’m reflecting on this week
I’ve been learning more about the European refugee crisis over the past week. This quote is from Harry Leslie Smith who saw incredible cruelty and compassion when he served Britain in WW2. Here’s his comment on the “blind eye” being turned on the refugees by many people.
"Considering there are over 60 million people across the globe displaced by war or brutal dictatorial regimes, we can no more ignore this tragedy than a person can ignore the cries of an abandoned child in their backyard and call themselves human"
2. Another book I own in 3 formats
The 50th Law by Robert Greene and 50-cent. This is a fascinating read and a compelling counterpoint to the “rainbows and kittens dipped in sugar” vibe of much of the new-age personal development world. The 50th Law documents rapper Curtis Jackson’s (aka 50-cent) meteoric rise from crack-dealer to multi-millionaire megastar and entrepreneur. Robert Greene (also known for Seduction, Mastery & The 48 Laws of Power) contributes a keen eye and high-quality wordsmithing. This is one of about ten books that I own in hardcopy, kindle and audiobook (I’ll explain why the 3 formats one day). Gritty stuff.
3. A video that moves me
I love it when I see the power of marketing and advertising used to break through our conditioned thinking and re-connect us with what’s real. The Ad Council has been creating public service films since it was founded in the 1940s. Here’s their beautiful 3-minute film on diversity and inclusion, Love Has No Labels.
4. A person who inspires me
Lynne Twist worked as Chief Fundraising Officer for The Hunger Project, and raised over 200 million dollars in the process. She’s a visionary who is taking action to improve the quality of life for humanity. Her book The Soul of Money: Transforming Your Relationship with Money and Life is a favourite of mine, and she’s also a terrific speaker. You can find out more about Lynne Twist on her website at http://www.lynnetwist.com/
5. This week’s 3-minute miracle
When I first heard the Jimi Hendrix version of Bob Dylan’s All Along the Watchtower, it was a revelation. The song was written the year I was born, and this version’s nearly as old as I am. If you’re long-acquainted with this song, have a listen and marvel at how fresh it still sounds. If you haven’t heard it before, I only have one word for you: Headphones. Enjoy.

That’s it for this week. If you have questions, suggestions or want to let me know what you’re enthusiastic about, just tweet one of yours and put my twitter name @jamiesmartcom and the #Enthusiasms hashtag in there so I can find it. If I’m enthusiastic about something you’re enthusiastic about, it might just get featured in a future TTE.
Big love
Jamie
PS. Over the past year, we’ve run four sold-out Coaching Package Power Conferences for professional coaches and 1:1 workers. You won’t have seen any advertising for these conferences – we’ve done it all under the radar on an “invitation only” basis – but at the last one we were joined by 120 people who are passionate about making a difference as Professional Coaches and Changeworkers.
And here’s a cool thing: 60 of the people joined us from 12 countries around the world via our new, leading-edge live-streaming facilities, while the other 60 joined us live in-person in London. The conference is focused on exactly what has to happen for you to migrate to a “coaching package” model so you can increase your income and make it more stable. The results our clients are getting are far beyond our expectations, so…
We’re running the next Coaching Package Power Conference on 28-29 May. Once again, we’ll have people joining us live in London, and via our live-streaming facilities. We’ll be sending out a call for applications in the next few weeks, but for now, we just want you to save the date and indicate your interest, so email me at info@jamiesmart.com if you want the chance to apply for a place when we open the doors in the next week or so.
