It’s enthusiasm time! Please let me know what you think via twitter at @jamiesmartcom, on my Facebook page here, or in the comment section. At the end, I’ll tell you how you can get one of your #enthusiasms featured in a future edition of The Thursday Enthusiasms (TTE).
1. A quotation I’m reflecting on this week
This week’s quote comes from Sydney Banks, the person who first articulated the principles behind clarity…
“Insecurity makes you prove yourself… and the second you go out into the world to prove… you’re tackling the entire world…
and you’ll never make it… you’ll never succeed because there’s no end to proving… you’ve got to give up proving… and just be you…
doesn’t matter what anybody else says… just be you… and if you are you… in a positive life… then you’ll be happy…”
2. An innovative video
The video for RUN and RUN (lyrical school) has been created to watch on your smartphone. I’m not a huge fan of the song, but the way they’ve used the phone format for this is extremely cool. You can watch it on your phone here.
3. An exponential organisation that’s changing the way the world moves
Uber’s stated purpose is to evolve the way the world moves. They’re transforming the world’s transportation systems, starting with the taxi trade (Uber has disrupted the taxi trade in 300 cities worldwide and counting!) While they’re causing quite the uproar in taxi companies, my personal experience is that the quality of service I’m receiving has been massively improved since Uber came on the scene. They’re a great example of how technology is being leveraged to create value. www.uber.com
4. My favourite building in the world
I still remember the day I first saw Antoni Gaudi’s masterpiece. It *literally* took my breath away. Here’s a 90-second video about it which I like. Check it out! My fave building ever.

5. This week’s 3-minute miracle
Steely Dan were one of my favourite bands when I was a teenager. They have tons of great tunes, but My Old School mixes great horns with choppy guitar and wonderful rhythms. * Pop Trivia – The name ‘Steely Dan’ comes from a steam-powered dildo that featured in William Boroughs’ book The Naked Lunch. If that doesn’t get you interested in listening to this single (taken from the album Countdown to Ecstasy), I don’t know what will 🙂
That’s it for this week. If you have questions, suggestions or want to let me know what you’re enthusiastic about, just tweet one of yours and put my twitter name @jamiesmartcom and the #Enthusiasms hashtag in there so I can find it. If I’m enthusiastic about something you’re enthusiastic about, it might just get featured in a future TTE.
Big love
Jamie
By the way, if you’re a transformation professional, then you may be a good fit for something I’m doing next month. Here’s what I’m looking for:
– You have at least one year’s experience of working with clients (either paid, pro-bono or both)
– You probably charge by the hour, but want to use a “coaching package” model to increase your income & make it more consistent
– You have space in your practice to work with at least one longer term contract client, starting in May
– You’re an enthusiastic, friendly people-person
– You have a coachable spirit, and are willing to step out of your comfort zone if necessary, and
– You can keep a secret
If that’s you, then just email me at jsmart@jamiesmart.com, and let me know where you’re located and a little about yourself (if you don’t know what to tell me about, look at the list above for inspiration). Make the subject line “Project Glasswing TTE”. I’ll be choosing people in the next couple of weeks. Talk to you soon!
Big love
Jamie
