“… As to methods there may be a million and then some, but principles are few.
The man who grasps principles can successfully select his own methods.
The man who tries methods, ignoring principles, is sure to have trouble.”

Last week, I did a brief (22 minute) coaching session with one of the coaches from the Project Glasswing community, Liz Scott. I posted this video in the Glasswing Facebook group and got such a big response I thought I’d share it with you. The area Liz wanted to focus on was how to transition from hourly rates to a “package” model. As you’ll see when you watch the video, I started out with some very straight, “off the cuff” answers to her questions, but within a few minutes, we drop into a completely different type of interaction; what I call “Clarity Coaching”. Here’s what Liz wrote after her experience of Clarity Coaching during this short session:
Hi Jamie, I’ve been reflecting on this so much wondering (in a good way) ”what happened’?! In the pauses there was a bit of ‘thinking’ going on, but the way I would describe it is that it was like the volume was down on it. So I was aware that I was being coached by JS, that I was observing his coaching as a coach (what could I learn?), that Iwas recording the session – however this thinking was muted. When Jamie said “I know it feels like it’s real, but that doesn’t mean that it’s real’ there was something inside of me that seemed to ‘pop’ with understanding. That’s the only way I can describe it. I have no idea what that understanding was, all I can say is that something within settled/dissolved. I HEARD something deeply. I have been reflecting on this ever since because there seems to now be an absence of something, I feel freer. At the end of the session I felt incredibly moved and touched. I can’t describe it any more than that. Being on the receiving end of this coaching has been extraordinary. This is certainly how I want to support my clients with coaching. Thanks again Jamie
That “absence” Liz refers to is the “subtractive” power of embodied understanding. It literally takes things off your mind, and gives you more freedom to live from your full capacity and potential. Or as I often say…
Liz is hosting a Coaching Connect event in Devon at the end of July. If you’d like to join me and my dear friends and colleagues, Rudi Kennard and Ian Watson, we’re all presenting at Liz’ event and we’d love to see you there. Liz has created a10% discount code for members of my community, CCJamie. You can book your place on the event here https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/meet-the-uks-top-3p-trainers-coaching-connect-tickets-25648079095
By the way, we’ve just started the latest Project Glasswing, and there are a couple of spaces left, so if you want to get on board and take your practice to a whole new level, pop me an email and let me know why you’re a good fit. Here’s how you’ll know…
– You have at least one year’s experience of working with clients (either paid, pro-bono or both)
– You probably charge by the hour, but want to use a “coaching package” model to increase your income & make it more consistent
– You have space in your practice to work with at least one longer term contract client, starting in June
– You’re an enthusiastic, friendly people-person
– You have a coachable spirit, and are willing to step out of your comfort zone if necessary, and
– You can keep a secret
If that’s you, then just email me at jsmart@jamiesmart.com, and let me know where you’re located and a little about yourself (if you don’t know what to tell me about, look at the list above for inspiration). Make the subject line “Project Glasswing JST”.
Big love
Jamie
