Here’s the stuff that’s lighting up the God within me this week (the word “enthusiasm” comes from the Ancient Greek words meaning “the God within”). Let me know what you think via twitter at @jamiesmartcom, on my Facebook page here, or in the comment section.
1. A quotation I’m reflecting on this week
My ex-wife, Katy Wheatley has written a very forthright blog-post that sums up the view of many of my friends who voted “Remain” in the recent vote on whether or not the United Kingdom should keep being a member of the European Union. Her blog post, entitled “Happy Now?” has already been read by over 300,000 people since she posted it on Monday, so I think it’s captured the mood rather well. Here’s a pithy, pointed and sweary quote from it that has stayed with me all week.
“You are being taken into the future by largely unelected fuckwits who have already lied to you and broken every promise you gave them power for.”
2. A Tremendous New Thing: The #ClarityLive Broadcast
I’ve been experimenting with the new Facebook Live video broadcast feature, and have decided to make #ClarityLive a regular fixture. For my first #ClarityLive Broadcast, I talked about about decisions, consequences and the deceptive nature of worry, anxiety and overwhelm. In light of all the fear and uncertainty surrounding the #brexit situation, I thought it would be good to bring some clarity to the conversation. More than 130 people joined me for this live, and you can watch the full recording here. By the way, if you want to get notified of future broadcasts, and join in with me live, just hit the “Like” button on the Jamie Smart Ltd page here and hit “Follow” when you join me live (you can comment and ask me questions live too).
3. A video that delights me
I love this. In this 20-minute video, Clarity Practitioner Lizzie Paish interviews Clarity Coach Nicky Bartley on the profound transformation learning about the principles behind clarity has had on her life, and on the success of her coaching practice. As well as being an incredibly dramatic story, Nicky’s experience shows that you have reason to be hopeful, no matter what your circumstances might look like. I also love this because it’s great to see my clients and colleagues doing what makes sense to them, stepping up and being visible as they share their gifts with the world. Hats off to you, Nicky and Lizzie.
4. A TED Talk that may have been inspired by one of my favourite books.
Project Glasswinger, @paulwalshco made me aware of this short TED Talk by Tom Hulme about design, and the path of least resistance. It looks to me like it was inspired by Robert Fritz’ excellent book, The Path of Least Resistance. Paul tweeted the video using the #enthusiasm hashtag and my @jamiesmartcom twitter handle, and here it is! If you have questions, suggestions or want to let me know what you’re enthusiastic about, just tweet one of yours and put my twitter name @jamiesmartcom and the #Enthusiasms hashtag in there so I can find it. If I’m enthusiastic about something you’re enthusiastic about, it might just get featured in a future TTE.
5. This week’s 3-minute miracle
When I heard this week’s song “Up With People” by Nashville-based wundergroup, Lambchop, it was love at first listen. To be fair, I love a horn section, so it was always going to be a winner, but this is particularly fabulous stuff. Enjoy!
That’s it for this week. Have fun!
Big love
Jamie
