It’s enthusiasm time again. Let me know what you think via twitter at @JamieSmartCom, on my Facebook page, or on my blog here.
1. A quote I’m resonating with this week
I’m a huge fan of Nassim Nicholas Taleb’s excellent book, Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder. The notion of ‘anti fragility’ continues to be offer incredibly powerful perspective for me, and has led to all kinds of positive effects in my life and my work. In fact, I referred to him and his work in RESULTS (pages 71-74). Here’s a Taleb-tidbit to whet your appetite:
“The irony of the process of thought control: the more energy you put into trying to control your ideas and what you think about,
the more your ideas end up controlling you.”
2. A performer I love
Steve Coogan is the creator of the incredibly funny character, Alan Partridge. Coogan has released two Partridge autobiographies, and he reads the Audiobook versions. They’re both hilarious.
3. This week’s glimpse into the future
It’s mind-meld time. Check out what Zuckerberg and his team are up to; direct brain-to-computer communication! http://uk.businessinsider.com/facebooks-building-8-working-on-brain-computer-communication-platform-2017-1
4. Something I’m getting great feedback on
Late last year, I released a compact book called Your Exponential Practice Scorecard: The 10 Multipliers Growing or Slowing Your Professional Practice. It’s for coaches, therapists, consultants and other transformational who want to grow a professional practice. It’s a great way of getting a feel for the biggest leverage points in growing your practice, as well as any quick wins and low-hanging fruit you may have been overlooking until now. In the meantime, you can download your own copy of the PDF for free at www.JamieSmart.com/scorecard – enjoy!
5. This week’s 3 minute miracle
I love Lemon Jelly, and there’s none of their songs I like better than the beautiful Ramblin’ Man. Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gC74r_HH_Cw
That’s it for this week!
Thanks and big love,
Jamie
PS The current instalment of Project Glasswing is underway, and we’re turning our sights on Glasswing 8. If you’d like to be considered for the next intake of this programme, we’ve got 36 places and expect it to be fully booked by the time we start, as usual. Here’s how you’ll know if you’re a good fit:
– You are a coach, therapist or change-worker (Eg. Sports coach, psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, business coach, bodyworker, consultant etc)
– You have at least one year’s experience of working with clients (either paid, pro-bono or both)
– You probably charge by the hour, but want to use a “coaching package” model and increase your income
– You have room to work with at least one longer term contract client, starting in May 2017
– You want to take your practice to the next level in 2017, and are willing to put step out of your comfort zone if necessary
– You’re an enthusiastic, friendly people-person
– You have a coachable spirit, and
– You can keep a secret
If that’s you, then email me at info@jamiesmart.com, and let me know where you’re located and a little about yourself (if you don’t know what to tell me about, look at the list above for inspiration). Change the subject line to “Project Glasswing TTE”. I’ll be choosing people in the next couple of weeks. Talk to you soon!
