The world is changing fast – AI is going to transform almost every industry. Here’s a quick example…
My publishers drafted a press release for the new edition of CLARITY.
I wasn’t happy with it because it was written by someone who’s never read the book (understandably – Wiley publishes thousands of books each year, so the PR team isn’t going to be able to read all of them).
I needed to do a better one, so I tweaked it with some copy and paste from the introduction of the book, and came up with my own draft press release. Here’s where it gets interesting:
You may have heard of ChatGPT, the Artificial Intelligence “Large Language Model” created by OpenAI. It hit the headlines because it went from zero to a million users in just 5 days following its release on November 30, 2022 (a feat which took Instagram 2.5 months and took Netflix 3.5 years).
You can ask it to perform writing tasks, so I asked ChatGpt to improve the press release, and pasted my revised version into the tool.
The result was better, but I wanted it to be even more clear that the new edition of CLARITY is relevant to business people as well as everyone else. So I said this to ChatGPT:
“Improve the body of this press release for the 2nd edition of Jamie Smart’s book CLARITY, making it even more relevant to business people”
I typed that command in and included the full body copy of the Press Release ChatGPT had created.
What it produced was the revised version I sent to the publishers, which they’ve sent out to the media (see below):
This has short-cut and *improved* a process which could have taken me many hours to get a less good result (I know about writing books but I don’t know about writing press releases).
ie. the combination of the AI and my knowledge/skills has resulted in a better result than I could have produced on my own.
Here’s the final press release:
Clear your mind automatically so you can focus on what really matters to you.
In the newly revised second edition of Clarity: Clear Mind, Better Performance, Bigger Results, Sunday Times bestselling author and state-of-mind specialist Jamie Smart delivers a practical roadmap to achieving mental clarity and unlocking business success. The book is designed to help business leaders and executives increase productivity, make better decisions, and achieve bigger results.
Society is facing a humanitarian crisis in mental health, with stress, anxiety and overwhelm having a huge negative impact on productivity and well-being. Smart provides readers with a simple understanding that declutters the mind automatically and uncovers the confidence and freedom to focus on what matters most in their business and personal life. The book also includes new case studies and peer-reviewed research that makes it easier to eliminate the noise and focus on what’s most crucial.
With Clarity, business leaders can expect to see a reduction in stress levels, improved relationships with colleagues and clients, and increased engagement with their work. The book is aimed at executives, managers, and other business leaders looking for major productivity and efficiency gains for themselves, their organizations, and their staff. It is also relevant for entrepreneurs, leaders of innovation and business development teams seeking to unlock a new level of results.
The second edition of Clarity will be available wherever books and ebooks are sold, priced £11.99.
So why am I telling you this? Here’s why:
As I wrote in the Preface (posted in full on Facebook here), the world has changed radically since CLARITY was first published. As this new edition finds its way into the world, it seems to me that there are two main reasons why the world needs this understanding more than ever before:
1. Well-being: We’re facing a humanitarian crisis in mental health, and the field is buckling under the strain of trying to operate without knowing the foundational principles that underpin it.
2. Wisdom: Our habits of thinking have not developed for the exponential world we’re now living in. We need wisdom, compassion and exponential insight to meet the challenges of the digital age.
In Chapter 22, I quote Dee Ward Hock saying that a 400-year-old age is dying and another is struggling to be born. The challenges of well-being and wisdom are a part of those birth struggles, and the principles we’re exploring are part of the solution. The only qualification you need to share this understanding are your own insights and the feeling you’re living in. And as my dear friend, colleague and mentor Chip Chipman once said…
“The feeling you’re living in is all you get.”
This week’s podcast
INTERVIEW – INSTANT CLARITY
When I released The Little Book of Clarity back in 2015, I recorded a brief but powerful, 20-minute recording to accompany it. It ended up being one of our most downloaded podcast episodes ever, so I encourage you to listen to it as a ‘taster’ to go with the release of the new edition of clarity. As you listen to this recording, you’ll learn how to have an effortlessly clear mind, with richer relationships, less stress and more meaningful results. Most people think it takes iron discipline and hours of practice to achieve mental clarity and peace of mind, but you’re going to discover that it’s as natural and effortless as watching a sunrise or smiling at a friend…

Wishing you a wonderful week!
Tons of love,
