Q: What do schizophrenia, burnout & fear of public speaking have in common?
** a prevention & cure for all mental & most physical illness **
A few days ago, I was asked who the most insightful clinical psychologist on the planet was. My answer was immediate:
Dr William Pettit Jr.
Here’s what I wrote about him in the new edition of CLARITY:
At the end of Chapter 18, I mentioned an interview I did with my good friend and colleague, Dr William (Bill) F. Pettit. He’s a board-certified psychiatrist and has been working with the principles described in this book exclusively for nearly 40 years. Dr Pettit has treated tens of thousands of patients, with diagnoses as diverse as schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder, stress, panic attacks and many more conditions.
Dr Pettit’s assertion is clear: There’s something you can learn and understand that is both the prevention and the cure to ALL mental illnesses and most physical illnesses.
It’s been four years since I interviewed Bill for what turned out to be one of my most downloaded podcast episodes of all time, so I decided to do it again.
We recorded part one of our interview yesterday, and he said something that stopped me in my tracks:
Bill’s late wife once told him she loved how simple the principles are. Bill asked what she meant, and she said:
“You’re either in your thinking, or you’re in your life.”
And while what she was pointing to is something I understand well (you may have heard me refer to being in your thinking as ‘la la land’), there’s something about the binary simplicity of her statement that I find very compelling.
The interview I did with Bill yesterday was vibrant, and we explored some terrific questions submitted by community members.
And…
It was so good, we thought we’d schedule a ‘part two’, where we focus *only* on answering the questions people have, so…
Q: What question would you love to get an answer to from Dr Pettit?
You can see the questions people have already asked, and post your question(s) in this Facebook thread.
I’m excited to read your questions and put them to Dr Pettit.
This week’s podcast
INTERVIEW – Schizophrenia, Stress & Depression: 1 cause & 1 cure
with Dr Bill Pettit
This is the original interview I did with Bill Pettit back in 2018 (one of our most downloaded episodes ever). Dr Pettit has seen first-hand in many thousands of cases just what a huge impact this understanding can have in a person’s life, you see: Bill’s a board-certified psychiatrist, and he’s shared the principles behind clarity with people who have very severe clinical diagnoses, often with seemingly miraculous results. So much so, that I went out to my tribe before doing this interview, and got people to submit questions for me to discuss with Bill, so we covered topics as diverse as schizophrenia, depression, panic attacks, stress and anxiety, and even psychedelics.
Our conversation ran for nearly two hours, and this is one you may want to listen to more than once because there’s so much in it. You can listen to our conversation here:
Wishing you a wonderful weekend!
Tons of love,
Jamie
PS I finally held the new edition of CLARITY in my hands. If you want to see this propitious moment, I posted the 90-second ‘unboxing’ video to Facebook and Vimeo for posterity.
There are tons of lovely comments there on the Facebook post so thanks to all of you for your love and support.
If you’re one of the people who’s planning to *read* the new edition, it would really help me out if you could pre-order the book in the next few days.
Of course, pre-orders are the first ones that get sent out, so if you place your pre-order this week, you’ll be holding the new edition of clarity in your hands a week from now.
Q: Do you want to be one of the first people to read the new edition of CLARITY?
If you’re up for helping me out with this, you can pre-order your copy here or wherever you get your books. Thanks! J
