It’s enthusiasm time again. Let me know what you think via twitter at @JamieSmartCom, on my Facebook page, or on my blog below.
1. A quote I’m resonating with this week
One of the things I love about working with the principles behind clarity is the power and simplicity of it. I see my job as a coach and trainer as being able to help create the optimal conditions for my clients to have the insights and realisations from within that will make a practical, go-forwards difference in their lives. And while this ‘job description’ isn’t quite right (for instance, insights aren’t conditional), it’s the best I’ve come up with so far. Of course, it’s nothing new; the trailblazing astronomer, physicist and mathematician, Galileo was saying it 400 years ago:
“We cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.”
2. A podcast episode that’s a Trump card
In this week’s episode of the Get Clarity podcast, you’re going to hear a coaching session that’s particularly relevant to a lot of people in light of this week’s mid-term elections in the USA, because the client, Kathleen, is feeling frightened and anxious about the social, economic and political climate. At one point in the conversation, you’ll hear me ask what may strike you as a strange and bizarre question:
Are you open to the possibility that your feelings don’t know who’s president?
As you’ll hear when you listen to the session, Kathleen gets insights into where her experience comes from, and who she really is. This session was taken from a Clarity Community call, and this is a session I do once a month where all my clients, past and present, are invited to a group coaching session. Kathleen’s session was at the start of the community call, so in the final 8 minutes of this episode, I check back in with her. She shares her insights and realisations from the coaching session, and as you’ll hear, things have really shifted. So here’s the episode…

3. This week’s glimpse of the future
Young people *literally* represent the future of our societies and the human race. The Resilient Young Minds Conference is shining a light on mental HEALTH rather than mental illness. We are bringing together a group of like-minded people who want to engage in a fresh conversation and an on-going journey around mental health.
If you’re passionate about the mental health and wellbeing of young people then this conference is going to be right up your street. Would you like to join us?
The places in the room are already sold out, but you can still get a Live-Stream ticket for the Resilient Young Minds conference on 22nd and 23rd November. This will give you access to an ‘in-the-room’ experience from the comfort of your own home from wherever you are in the world.
You need to get your ticket before 9th November (midnight GMT) to qualify for the discount. Just follow this link https://bit.ly/2MHEd1j and add the code rym60
4. An exciting new book for less than a quid
Clarity Coach Nick Bottini’s new book ‘Just Play: The Simple Truth Behind Musical Excellence’ has its Amazon bestseller launch today and tomorrow. It’s not only a book about music, but also how the principles behind clarity play out in all sorts of ‘performance’. Nick has worked with a wide range of clients and has garnered support from industry heavyweights, including Grammy-winning musicians such as Youtube sensation and Quincy Jones protégé Jacob Collier (who wrote the foreword), percussionist Dame Evelyn Glennie, Culture Club bassist Mikey Craig and Snarky Puppy Keyboardist Bill Laurance.
50% of all author royalties will go to support ‘Music Minds Matter’, the 24-hour mental health helpline set up by the UK’s leading musical charity, Help Musicians UK.
The kindle edition is only available for 99p/99c for two days at https://amzn.to/2PIl140 and for special launch day bonuses and competitions follow Nick on social media (www.twitter.com/nickbottini, https://instagram.com/bottininick/, www.facebook.com/nick.bottini.5) for updates throughout the day.
5. This week’s 3-minute miracle
My daughter and I went to see the new Halloween movie this week. It was a good’un, and I was reminded of just how amazing John Carpenter’s original was. One of the things that made it so damned good was the minimalist theme tune, which was re-used for the 2018 film. Carpenter wrote the music himself, and it’s totally iconic and amazing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uu2igkV574I
That’s it for this week!
