It’s enthusiasm time again. Let me know what you think via twitter at @JamieSmartCom, on my Facebook page, or on my blog here.
1. A quote I’m resonating with this week
This quote from Admiral Hyman Rickover has a deep resonance for me on many levels. These range from the personal all the way to the societal, and I love the notion of “courageous patience”.
“Good ideas are not adopted automatically. They must be driven into practice with courageous patience”
2. Truth bombs
Professor Jordan Peterson and I would undoubtedly disagree on many things, but I deeply appreciate the wisdom that shines through many of the ‘truth bombs’ that are forming the basis of his next book. You can cast an eye over them here: http://highexistence.com/jordan-peterson-rules-living/
3. This week’s glimpse of the future
One of the areas where blended reality and live-streaming are coming together is in the domain of neurosurgery. A live-streaming trial of “360-degree surgery” was presented by Nokia partnering with Helsinki University Hospital, and streamed to 100 surgeons globally.
4. Dirty art
This artist uses the (dirty) vehicles in his neighbourhood as the canvasses for his creations. Pretty amazing https://www.facebook.com/viralthread/videos/742868955885790/
5. This week’s 3 minute miracle
The Byrds’ seminal album ‘Sweetheart of the Rodeo’ contains a jangly guitar classic, 100 Years From Now (the original features the delicious guitar-playing of Gram Parsons.) Anyway, the song popped into my head last weekend during Clarity Trainer Training, and I realised I hadn’t heard it in 15-20 years. I went searching for it and turned up this beautiful live version by the Flying Burrito Brothers, and featuring ‘Sneaky Pete’ Kleinow on pedal steel. Pure genius! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeGvcEW-_u0
That’s it for this week!
Thanks and big love,
Jamie
