1. A quote I’m resonating with this week
In my first book, CLARITY, I quoted from Charlie Chaplin’s beautiful speech from the great dictator. I opined that artists are “the canaries in humanity’s coal mine, able to sense our emerging patterns and potentials long before they be- come obvious to everyone else.” For the past week, I’ve been listening to Grayson Perry’s wonderful Reith Lectures from 2013 and he came out with a quote about art that resonates deeply with me (and is much more concise than my statement). The quote is from artist Jennifer Yane
“Art is spirituality in drag.”
2. A wonderful film
Sometimes I know from the second I see a film’s trailer that I’m going to love it. 3 Billboards In Ebbing, Missouri is one of those. It’s got some of my favourite actors (including Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell and the ever-wonderful Frances McDormand), a great script and is directed by the excellent Martin McDonagh. Dark, touching and funny. Highly recommended: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YpIU1STH8ac
3. This week’s glimpse of the futurex
Charlie Brooker’s mind is one of the places I get my glimpses of the future. Season 4 of his series ‘Black Mirror’ has just been released on Netflix. As usual, it’s a varied mix – some very strong episodes, some not so much. But what is consistent through all 4 series is Brooker’s dark humour and a dystopian visionary’s perspective on where technology is taking us. Well worth a look: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ELQ6u_5YYM
4. #TeamClarity is growing!
We’ve just been joined by a new team member, and we’re on the lookout for one more!
Our latest team member
I’m delighted to formally announce that Steven Heath has recently joined #TeamClarity. While Steve has been helping us with a variety of things for the past few months, moving forward, he’s going to be taking on the role of Social Media Manager with us from now on.
Steve’s appointment is an incredibly important step forward for us as a team, for our community and for our shared vision of awakened humanity. Steve has a deep understanding of the principles behind clarity, resonates with our team’s vision and values and has a high level of skill as a communications professional.
A deep understanding of and commitment to the principles behind clarity is incredibly important to us as a business, so – like most of our team – Steve started out as a client and member of our community. As a result, he has a highly developed understanding of the challenges and opportunities we have as a business and the way we’re looking to take things forward.
Steve’s primary objectives in the short term will involve the management of all aspects of Jamie Smart Ltd’s digital content and social media presence. He’ll be working closely with me and the rest of the team as we continue to raise awareness of the principles behind clarity and support our existing clients and the wider Clarity Community with the highest quality audio-visual content across our range of digital and social media platforms.
I’m thrilled to welcome Steve to our team. We’re looking forward to working with him, and excited to see the fruits of this new collaboration.

5. This week’s 3 minute miracle
I was sad to read about The Cranberries lead singer, Dolores O’Riordan, who died unexpectedly this week. I loved her performance on their breakthrough hit, Linger. Here it is again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G6Kspj3OO0s
