I’ve got more morsels for you this week. Whether they’re brill or blah, please let me know what you think via twitter at @jamiesmartcom, on my Facebook page here, or in the comment section. At the end, I’ll tell you how you can get one of your #enthusiasms featured in a future edition.
1. A quote that nails it
Stephen Hawking isn’t only one of the great scientists of our time; he’s also quite a student of the human experience…
“The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge.”
2. A super-exponential app
I use the Waze app to navigate my way round the UK. It leverages the information from the GPS in my phone (as well as the rest of the people in the Waze network) to create the best routes for all of us, real-time. Not only that, but my fellow community=-members can warn me about traffic blockages etc. Waze is imho an example of just how incredible the results can be when you leverage technology and community. Check it out here.
3. A milestone I’m delighted about
On 10th November, I signed the contract for the publication of my next book. My publishers Wiley plan to have it on the bookshelves this coming summer, so I’ve got some busy months ahead of me. I feel so happy and grateful for all the people in my community who support me in my work, so I’m looking forward to sharing tidbits with you as I go along. If you want to see how the announcement was met by my friends on Facebook, you can have a look here and post your comments.
4. A podcast that made me cry
I love the excellent podcast Reply All by PJ Vogt and Alex Goldman. It’s a short weekly show about the internet, and this episode (about a dog that was “stolen by the internet”) is one of the most beautiful things I’ve heard in a long time. You can listen to the Reply All episode The Rainbow Pug here.
5. A cheese that is incredible
Burrata is a soft Italian cheese made of mozzarella and cream, and here’s the thing: I don’t even like mozzarella. But when one of my clients offered me a taste of his burrata at a restaurant, I was instantly converted. It’s soft, creamy and delicious. Unfortunately, a whole portion is too much for me (it’s extremely rich) but I still try…
That’s it for this week. If you have questions, suggestions or want to let me know what you’re enthusiastic about, just tweet one of yours and put my twitter name @jamiesmartcom and the #Enthusiasms hashtag in there so I can find it. If I’m enthusiastic about something you’re enthusiastic about, it might just get featured in a future TTE.
Big love
Jamie
