I’ve got some more yummies for you this week. Whether they’re great or grue, please let me know what you think via twitter at @jamiesmartcom, on my Facebook page here, or in the comment section. At the end, I’ll tell you how you can get one of your #enthusiasms featured in a future edition.
1. A quote that lifts my heart
This week’s quote comes from one of my heroes, thinker and futurist Barbara Marx Hubbard. Her book Conscious Evolution is one of my favourites, and was where I found this juicy morsel…
“When we experience our own desire for transformation, we are feeling the universe evolving through us.”
2. Something that still sends a shiver up and down my spine
I’ve been on holiday in British Columbia, Canada for the past couple of weeks. On my way home, I was walking through Vancouver International Airport when I saw The Little Book of Clarity being heavily featured in the Virgin book store. I was not expecting this, and I still get a mix of excitement, surprise and delight when I see my books somewhere new like this. Doubly so as I grew up in this neck of the woods. Thanks to you my friends for helping spread this understanding. Pop over to Facebook if you want to read the comments and share the love. #teamclarity #thoughtrevolution #worldclarity
3. A friend who I’m really proud of
My dear friend Virginia Salas Kastilio made this beautiful video in New York’s Union Square. I’ll let her tell the story… “I walked up to Union Square, blindfolded myself, pulled my dress over my head. All the while a man was shouting at me ‘Hey, Girl. Put your clothes back on. Put your clothes back on. No-one wants to see that.’ I held my ground and adjusting my sign. It read:
‘I am standing for ANYONE who has struggled with a SELF-ESTEEM ISSUE like me… ALL bodies are BEAUTIFUL. To support SELF-ACCEPTANCE, draw a heart on my Body.’” You can watch what happened in Virginia’s wonderful video here. I’m so proud of you, Virginia! Big love, Jx
4. A heart-warming story about Thomas Edison’s mum
This story is so good that it almost doesn’t matter a) whether it’s true, b) whether Edison was writing his own PR or c) that Edison allegedly ripped off Nikola Tesla. You can read it in under 30 seconds and I’m pretty sure it’ll bring a momentary lump to your throat.
5. My favourite youtube video ever (contains strong language)
Charlie Brooker is a comic genius, and has a keen eye on the media. His 2-minute “How to report the news” clip is a hilarious masterclass in “meta”. Priceless.
That’s it for this week. If you have questions, suggestions or want to let me know what you’re enthusiastic about, just tweet one of yours and put my twitter name @jamiesmartcom and the #Enthusiasms hashtag in there so I can find it. If I’m enthusiastic about something you’re enthusiastic about, it might just get featured in a future TTE.
Big love
Jamie
