Guess what – there’s still lots to be enthusiastic about. Let me know what you think via twitter at @jamiesmartcom, on my Facebook page here, or in the comments below.
1. A quote I’m resonating with this week
This is from an email comedian Louis C.K. sent to fans last week:
“. . . please remember that the turning over of one year to another is a mental construct that bears no more weight than the things that keep us apart and in competitive categories as human beings. Time is not moving. You’re not losing or gaining ground. You’re not separate from “them” any more than you’re separate from your own umbrella. It’s now, we’re us and this is here. If you’re in pain, this too shall pass. If you’re in luxury, this too shall pass. Ask an old lady how she’s doing. The internet is not real. Draw a picture on a napkin.”
2. Your true identity
I posted a video a couple of weeks ago of a coaching session I did during the Clarity Coach Training programme with Susie Spens. The theme of the coaching was “Your true identity, and getting in touch with who you really are”. Lots of people in the group had big insights during the coaching (which is why I shared the video), but I was amazed to discover it’s now been watched by over 30,000 people (in just a couple of weeks!) Susie’s session seems to have touched something for people. You may have your own insights and realisations about your true identity when you watch the video here: www.facebook.com/jamiesmartcom/videos/10154826974561528/
3. This week’s glimpse into the future
Exponential technology is bringing science fiction to life. The TV show “Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy” famously introduced the babel fish, a small creature you could put in your ear, and that would translate any language. Guess what – the babel fish is now a technical reality! Check out the article and video here: http://mashable.com/2016/05/17/pilot-translate/#zyOslnkxIEqd
4. The Source of Good Decisions
If you’ve already read chapter 14 of RESULTS (it’s about “Finding Your Bearings When You Get Knocked Off-track”), then you’ve already been introduced to advertising agency founder, Jim Lewcock. Jim’s the guy who told me, “You’re just regurgitating your book; you’re going to have to raise your game” during a 1:1 intensive. I’ve interviewed Jim for an episode of The Results Mindset Podcast, and you get to hear HIS side of that story, as well as how things have continued evolving since then. By the way, I’m going to be interviewing all the people whose stories are in RESULTS, so subscribe to the podcast on iTunes or Stitcher to make sure you don’t miss out. The title of our interview is “The Source of Good Decisions”. You can listen to my interview with Jim at https://www.jamiesmart.com/rmp07/
5. This week’s 3 minute miracle
I have no idea how I managed to go through half a century of my life without hearing Melissa by the Allman Brothers. This version is from their album “Eat A Peach”, and was dedicated to Duane Allman (the amazing guitarist who played slide guitar on Eric Clapton’s Layla). Duane (who died in a motorcycle accident) considered Melissa his brother’s best song. I heard it for the first time on Christmas Day when I was jamming with a buddy of mine. Here’s Melissa: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwRFAFGIi5w
Thanks and big love,
Jamie
PS The next installment of Project Glasswing is due to kick off in the new year. If you’d like to be considered for the latest intake of this programme, I’m looking for 36 very specific people:
– You are a coach, therapist or change-worker (Eg. Sports coach, psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, business coach, bodyworker etc)
– You have at least one year’s experience of working with clients (either paid, pro-bono or both)
– You probably charge by the hour, but want to use a “coaching package” model and increase your income
– You have room to work with at least one longer term contract client, starting in February 2017
– You want to take your practice to the next level in 2017, and are willing to put step out of your comfort zone if necessary
– You’re an enthusiastic, friendly people-person
– You have a coachable spirit, and
– You can keep a secret
If that’s you, then email me at info@jamiesmart.com, and let me know where you’re located and a little about yourself (if you don’t know what to tell me about, look at the list above for inspiration). Change the subject line to “Project Glasswing TTE”. I’ll be choosing people in the next couple of weeks. Talk to you soon!
