It’s enthusiasm time again. Let me know what you think via twitterat @JamieSmartCom, on my Facebook page, or in the comments below.
1. A quote I’m resonating with this week
This week’s quote comes from polymath Howard Bloom, author of the astonishingly brilliant book The Lucifer Principle.
“Sociological researchers maintain a mask of objectivity. But… when students in these movements report facts
that contradict the tenets of their group’s creed, they are… punished for their heresy. …forcing them “to leave the movement.”
A similar mechanism of repression is at work in every scientific discipline that I know.”
2. An optimistic article
In the face of much media-dismality, this medium article https://medium.com/future-crunch/99-reasons-why-2016-has-been-a-great-year-for-humanity-8420debc2823#.p1934ht41 proposes that 2016 was actually a great year for humanity. Turns out we have reason to be hopeful after all! 🙂
3. This week’s glimpse into the future
OK, this may be a little tongue in cheek, but Netflix have hacked a Muse brainwave monitor / feedback gizmo to create a mind-controlled remote for your TV viewing http://mashable.com/2017/01/30/netflix-mind-control/#LRfv_EtPkmqG . In case getting up to look for your remote was that bit too much effort…
4. A video that got people popping this week
Would you like to know how to easily handle objections and concerns? I did a video on this on Monday night in the Exponential Practice Professional Group, and the response was massive. We had dozens of “objections” submitted for me to talk through how I would handle them, but here’s where it got interesting. I spent almost the whole video talking about mindset. It turns out that “where you’re coming from” is the key to handling objections and concerns. So I made an executive decision; I decided we’d do all the objection-handling this coming Monday. We’ve already got a big list of them to go through, but watching this week’s video is required prep for this coming one to make sense. Here’s what we covered in this week’s video
– why I love it when potential clients come up with objections to signing up
– why objections are actually a great sign
– how to handle them in a way that is effective and deepens connection
– how to enjoy the hell out of them
If you’re not already a member of the group, and you’re a coach, therapist, trainer, consultant or other transformation professional, head over to www.JamieSmart.com/expo to get free access and watch the video now. You can leave any objections that get you hung up in the comments below the video, and I’ll handle them in this coming Monday’s session.
5. This week’s 3 minute miracle
Scotland’s Teenage Fanclub are one of the greatest bands of all time. Don’t agree with me? You have not been properly informed. You can remedy that now with the song The Concept https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhXl-Glv1dg from their seminal 1991 album Bandwagonesque.
That’s it!
Thanks and big love,
Jamie
PS The next instalment of Project Glasswing is due to kick off in a few weeks. If you’d like to be considered for the latest intake of this programme, we’ve got 9 places left (we’ve filled the first 27 places and expect it to be fully booked by the time we start). Here’s how you’ll know if you’re a good fit:
– You are a coach, therapist or change-worker (Eg. Sports coach, psychotherapist, hypnotherapist, business coach, bodyworker etc)
– You have at least one year’s experience of working with clients (either paid, pro-bono or both)
– You probably charge by the hour, but want to use a “coaching package” model and increase your income
– You have room to work with at least one longer term contract client, starting in March 2017
– You want to take your practice to the next level in 2017, and are willing to put step out of your comfort zone if necessary
– You’re an enthusiastic, friendly people-person
– You have a coachable spirit, and
– You can keep a secret
If that’s you, then email me at info@jamiesmart.com, and let me know where you’re located and a little about yourself (if you don’t know what to tell me about, look at the list above for inspiration). Change the subject line to “Project Glasswing TTE”. I’ll be choosing people in the next couple of weeks. Talk to you soon!
