The audiobook version of RESULTS: Think Less, Achieve More includes numerous ‘extemporaneous’ sections; places where I enhanced, updated or added to the content in the original book. My purpose in this was simple: I wanted to add value to the audiobook; to make it so that it offers value over and above that which is available in the hard copy. I asked that question in one of my Facebook groups recently, and explained that each week, I enjoy casting an eye over the promotional posts that fill the group on a Wednesday (this is the day all the members are invited to share what they do). Can you walk through fog?

One morning recently, it was super-foggy, and I was reminded of one of my favourite quotes (by EL Doctorow). He said, “Writing is like driving at night in the fog. You can only see as far as your headlights, but you can make the whole trip that way.”

From time to time, I offer a group-coaching session for people who are at a point of transition. Two of the ‘issues’ that inevitably come up are self-belief and self-doubt.

I don’t know if you’ve ever seen the “bullying / crumpled paper” meme that’s been doing the rounds. Basically, the message is of a teacher who gets children to crumple up a piece of paper then smooth it out, and to observe how the scars (creases) stay forever, and that’s what happens when you bully someone so don’t be a bully. When I saw it, my first thought was, ‘great metaphor’. But my second thought was, “This is horrible; they’re teaching children to believe they’re fragile”. Read More →
